Layer Name: Water Device Points
Layer Description:
A Water Device Point represents a gwis_rw man-made device located on the surface of the earth,
for example a well or a surface water pump.
The point does not represent
a water-right document.
A Water Device
Point may be associated with one or more water-right documents.
Many Water
Device Points are initially located
based on the water-right document’s source narrative description (legal
description). However, because a Water
Device Point represents a gwis_rw man-made device located on the surface of
the earth, it may be relocated in the Geographic Water-right Information
System (GWIS) without changing the narrative description on the water-right
document. For example, if a well
location is checked in the field by staff and the original mapped location is
found to be in error.
The “Other” Water
Device Point type designates devices that are coded incorrectly in the GWIS
database.
